One busy day

Today was a busy day for us. We booked a helicopter ride and a Luau. The Helicopter was a lot of fun. The flight was for 55mins and they took us all around the island. Its really cool to see the island from the air. We actually are coming home with a DVD of our tour:) The only thing we didn't really like was that we had to sit on the left side of the Helicopter and the tour around the island was a clockwise tour. That means that we saw a lot water but thats ok we loved it. Later that night we were off to our Luau. The food was great and they kept the Mai Thais coming. Becca and I really enjoyed the pig. Unfortunately we had rain showers throughout the day so they moved the luau inside:( but it was still a lot of fun.

Makana Charters

Becca and I were really excited today to go on our snorkeling trip. We found this really cool company that is owned and operated by locals. Captain Mike and Joshua were both born and raised on the island and are proud of it. Mikes great-grand father was among the last to leave the "old school" way of life in Kauai and join the "regular" way of life as we call it. We knew it was going to be a fun trip. When someone asked if the water was going to be calm today, Joshua said with a grin "We don't call it rough, we call it exciting". Their amazing stories and knowledge of the history was something that you can't buy on any tour. We left from Port Allen on the south side of the island and went up the West coast. We passed the military base with a bunch of silos with who knows what in them:) Mike even took us into places that only his boat can go. We saw the beaches that everyone uses in there movies and tons more. There was so much to see. They knew everything there was to know about Kauai. Someone on our trip asked, "How do you know so much?" and both of there responses were, "We were born and raised here Bro". Our tour all in all was 5hrs long. It was about 2hrs up- 30mins snorkeling- 30mins eating- and 2hrs back. We didn’t take very many pics with the digital while we were moving. We bought an underwater camera that we took more pictures with. When we get home we'll scan them in and put them up online. I(BJ) did get a little sea sick once I got back on the boat from snorkeling. It was only because the boat was rocking. When we got moving again I felt a lot better but sitting still in the water was not good for me. We cant wait to see the underwater pics!!!

Just relaxing:)

Now this is what life should be like. We're having so much fun doing well..... nothing. Its really nice just waking up whenever and starting your day. Although I've found out that my body is naturally on Kauai time. I actually get up at 7:30 or earlier and feel fine. Today we made our way to Waimea Canyon State Park. The canyon was nicknamed by Mark Twain as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” This nice thing about going here was that is is west of us. Why is that nice you may ask. Well, we're on the south side of the island and going anywhere takes a long time...about 25mins to go 12miles or so because no road here is over 50mph and most places are 35-25mph. So going west is a short trip from the south side:) Before we went there we stopped to grab a bite to eat at the Wranglers Steak House. It was a neat little place on the way out to the canyon and even better they gave us a free meal...only because it took a little long to get our food. Like we cared, we're on a vacation and really dont have anywhere to be. So the canyon lived up to all the hype. What a beautiful place!!!

Loving Kauai

We did a little exploring today. We started out with a great meal at Brick Oven Pizza. It's a Hawaii original. Then we headed to the east side of the island toward Wailua Falls. It was beautiful. The sound of the wild roosters added to the charm. Then we headed to Poipu Beach where we enjoyed shaved ice and smoothies...a must in Poipu Beach. Then we headed back to our condo to watch the sun set. Another fun filled day in Kauai.

"Day 2"

We woke up surprisingly early today although, it was 7:30am here, it was 12:30pm at home. We had a nice leisurely breakfast and then hit the road in search of an amazing beach. Little did we know how easy of a feat that is here. Every single beach we passed was just gorgeous...blue water, clean sand, beautiful waves. How could we go wrong?!?! We finally decided on one and set up camp. We lathered up on the sunscreen and lounged around for a while. We took a little dip in the ocean and got tossed around by the waves. We wondered how many couples were here on their honeymoon as well. :) We had a good lunch at the #1 Asian and BBQ restaurant in Kauai. What a strange combo. All in all, it was a wonderfully relaxing day!!!

Aloha from Hawaii

Hello everyone. Were here in Kauai and loving it. We arrived yesterday around 5:30pm (10:30CST). The condo that were staying in is about 35 feet from the ocean. Ok well were off to explore the Island!!!

Were Coming Home

So were in the Lobby just waiting for our transfer. We loved our trip. We hope you guys had a little fun looking through the pics. Cya soon.

The Underground

Our last full day here:( We took off this morning and checked out the National Art museum. Not really something that I was really looking forward to but I went anyway. Well there lots of old paintings there and well its not for me. I think the most exciting thing that happened when we were in there was the young women who was talking to a small class of children. She was really good with them. She was telling them about some painting with cupid in it but she was so good at keeping there attention I was almost drawn in too. That’s what happens when you have the attention span of a grade-schooler:) After the stroll the all the paintings we headed off to Harrods which is a huge place to shop for lots of expensive items. We sat on some couches that were going for 10,000 in the states. No we didn’t order them. After all that Becca and I went back to the hotel for a nap before going out some more. Oh ya Becca got sick today:( So were complete nerds we went to see HP again tonight we couldn't think of anything else to do so that was our evening entertainment. Ok we need some sleep because we'll be heading out tomorrow. Cya soon.
